There’s some on-again, off-again drama going on with “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
And it’s not happening on camera, as planned.
A day after becoming the first TV series to start shooting in Los Angeles following the coronavirus-related shutdowns, production was paused on the long-running CBS soap opera.
According to a rep for Bell-Phillip Television, which produces the show, new safety protocols were cited as the reason for the decision.
“We have paused very briefly to modify our testing protocol to better accommodate the large volume of testing needed. Safety remains our top priority as we continue to move forward with the production of the show, ” reads the statement sent to The Daily News on Thursday.
The company maintained that production on Wednesday — where sex dolls were planned to be used for filming sex scenes in the age of social distancing — “was a successful first day back at work,” and cast and crew of the eight-time Emmy Award-winning serial “will be back in production on Tuesday, June 23.”
The testing to which the statement referred was part of a comprehensive list of procedures designed to ensure the safety of those involved in shooting, from social distancing to temperature checks, to regularly testing of the cast and crew for COVID-19.
