The daytime soap opera world will welcome its first new series starring a predominantly Black cast in 35 years.

CBS, in partnership with civil rights organization NAACP, announced Wednesday its development of “The Gates,” a soap centered on a wealthy Black family living in a posh, gated community.

The daytime drama will be written by Emmy winner Michele Val Jean, whose credits include more than 2,000 episodes of iconic soaps including “The Bold & The Beautiful” and “General Hospital.” The 72-year-old daytime veteran, who served as a script writer for the Black-led “Generations” in the early 1990s, will also serve as showrunner.

“The Gates will be everything we love about daytime drama, from a new and fresh perspective,” CBS Studios/NAACP president Sheila Ducksworth said in a statement. “This series will salute an audience that has been traditionally underserved, with the potential to be a groundbreaking moment for broadcast television.”

“With multi-dimensional characters, juicy storylines and Black culture front and center, ‘The Gates’ will have impactful representation, one of the key touchstones of the venture,” the former “Soul Food” producer added.

Once the dominating content of daytime, there are currently only three soap operas still airing on network TV: “The Young & the Restless” and “The Bold & the Beautiful,” both on CBS, and ABC’s “General Hospital.”

In 2022, “Days of Our Lives” moved exclusively to the Peacock streaming platform after 57 years on NBC.

‘Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness accused of being ‘abusive monster’ in new exposé https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/03/05/jonathan-van-ness-allegations-rolling-stone-expose/ Wed, 06 Mar 2024 01:24:48 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7562925 Jonathan Van Ness, the beloved grooming expert on Netflix hit “Queer Eye,” is in reality a “monster” with severe “rage issues,” according to an exposé published Tuesday by Rolling Stone.

“[There’s] a real emotion of fear around them when they get angry,” a source said of Van Ness, who uses they/them pronouns. “It’s almost like a cartoon where it oozes out of them. It’s intense and scary.”

The publication spoke with over 10 anonymous sources from the “Queer Eye” production team and others who have worked with Van Ness, with many claiming the star’s nasty behavior was creating so much toxicity behind the scenes that the other castmates were becoming hesitant to film with Van Ness.

Four people who held prominent roles on the production referred to Van Ness, 36, as a “monster,” a “nightmare” and “demeaning.”

Seven others told Rolling Stone the star would lash out at crew members, making filming “difficult in any capacity.”

“At least once a day, they would need to yell at somebody,” a source said. “It might be something small, but there’s always going to be somebody to point out and blame and make the villain of the day.”

Their “unprofessional” behavior and need to be the center of the show also sowed significant animosity amongst the other stars.

“[Van Ness] didn’t want to ever share the spotlight with anyone,” another source added. “There were times when we couldn’t even shoot scenes with certain members of the Fab Five together because it got so bad.”

Those certain members reportedly included interior design expert Bobby Berk, who announced in November his decision to leave the production after season 8, which recently premiered on Netflix.

Berk elaborated on his departure in a recent profile for Vanity Fair, discussing contract negotiations and a rumored rift with fashion expert Tan France, but didn’t make mention of any issues with Van Ness.

Commonly identified by their initials JVN, the grooming expert and internet personality has hosted the show since 2018 and is also a podcaster, bestselling author, comedian and owner of a line of non-gendered haircare products.

“Jonathan’s a person who contains multitudes and who has the capacity to be very warm, very charismatic, and has the capacity to make you feel really special that they are paying attention to you,” another source told Rolling Stone — though that persona appears to be constructed.

“There’s a real contrast between that and the way that they treat the people who are closest to them across the board,” said another insider who worked with Van Ness. “It’s the opposite of what this person is touted and paid to be.”

Reps for Van Ness have not yet replied to a request for comment on the accusations.

Who is Jeremiah Brent? Meet the new ‘Queer Eye’ design expert following Bobby Berk’s exit https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/27/who-is-jeremiah-brent-queer-eye-bobby-berk-replacement/ Tue, 27 Feb 2024 23:16:20 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7546892 The latest iteration of the Fab Five has a fresh new face onboard.

Roughly three months after the news that “Queer Eye” design expert Bobby Berk would be leaving the series after season 8, Netflix has announced that Jeremiah Brent will be stepping in to replace him.

The new interior designer will join long-time castmates Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness for season 9 of the Emmy Award-winning series, which is set to be filmed in Las Vegas.

But who is Jeremiah Brent and where might you have seen him before?

Who is Jeremiah Brent?

Brent, whose birth name is Jeremy Clevenger Johnson, is a design industry superstar hailing from Modesto, Calif.

The self-taught interior decorator first made a splash in the world of reality TV as a styling associate on season 4 of Bravo’s “The Rachel Zoe Project.” Years later, he hosted the Emmy Award-winning “Home Made Simple” for two seasons on the Oprah Winfrey Network and starred in TLC’s “Nate & Jeremiah by Design” alongside his husband, fellow interior designer Nate Berkus.

Berkus and Brent — the first same-sex couple to be featured in ads for Banana Republic — were married in 2014 and are the parents of 8-year-old daughter Poppy and 5-year-old son Oskar, both of whom were born via egg donors and surrogates.

In 2011 — the same year he appeared on “The Rachel Zoe Project” — Brent founded design firm Jeremiah Brent Design (JBD), with offices in Manhattan and Los Angeles.

“My personal design aesthetic is monastic, but obviously, we don’t do just that with the firm,” he told Architectural Digest in 2022.

Why did Bobby Berk leave ‘Queer Eye”?

Following the premiere of “Queer Eye” in 2018, Berk quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his stunning home makeovers and compassionate conversations. So it came as a surprise to fans when the 42-year-old Houston native announced in November that he was departing the show after season 8, which dropped Jan. 24 on Netflix.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that Season 8 will be my final season on ‘Queer Eye,’” Berk wrote on social media. “It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one. Although my journey with ‘Queer Eye’ is over, my journey with you is not. You will be seeing more of me very soon.”

Berk elaborated on his departure in a recent profile for Vanity Fair, saying he thought the show had come to an end after they had completed the contract they initially signed.

“We thought we were done [after September 2022],” he said. “Mentally and emotionally, I thought we all moved on. I know I did, and I started planning other things.”

But then, after nearly a year had passed, Netflix decided to renew the show, with a contract that required a commitment of up to four seasons. Having already made other plans, Berk decided not to sign while his fellow castmates did.

“We just assumed that the show wouldn’t come back if we all didn’t come back,” he said.

Berk also confirmed rumors of a rift with fashion expert Tan France.

“Tan and I had a moment. There was a situation, and that’s between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show,” he told Vanity Fair. “It was something personal that had been brewing — and nothing romantic, just to clarify that.”

How to watch “Queer Eye”?

All six episodes of the current season of “Queer Eye” — filmed in New Orleans — are streaming now on Netflix, along with all previous seasons of the series. There’s no word yet on when season 9 will premiere.

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce relationship documentary hitting Fox, Hulu next week https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/24/taylor-swift-travis-kelce-relationship-documentary-tmz-investigates-release-date/ Sat, 24 Feb 2024 22:24:17 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7541244 Those who can’t get enough of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s love story will soon have their prayers answered with a new documentary centered on the buzzed-about pair.

TMZ on Saturday announced the documentary special, “TMZ Investigates: Taylor & Travis: Ultimate Love Story,” airing Monday at 9 p.m. ET on Fox, and streaming on Hulu the following day.

The doc promises to dive into the dynamics of the A-listers’ relationship, highlighting how the Grammy Award winner and Super Bowl champion are both shining stars but manage not to overshadow the other.

Dr. Phil, who’s reportedly featured in the doc, says that despite both being alphas, working in different fields is a big helper for the pair, per the outlet.

“Juicy Scoop” host Heather McDonald echoed those sentiments, adding that the two are each others’ biggest cheerleaders and Swift intentionally “masculates” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

Kelce this week made headlines by flying halfway round the world to join the “Anti-Hero” singer in Sydney for the first of her four Eras Tour shows in the Australian city. The couple’s antics down under included a private tour at the Sydney Zoo, which was later slammed by PETA.

Then, much like at the Buenos Aires shows Kelce attended late last year, the two went viral after Swift once again changed the original lyrics to “Karma” to shout out her new beau. She was later filmed running backstage to kiss him after the show.

However, Kelce had to cut his trip short to rejoin his teammates in Las Vegas for another celebration of their Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers.

Swift was famously in attendance at the Super Bowl — and at one of the celebrations afterward, where she hard-launched their relationship on TikTok.

FuboTV files $1B lawsuit in attempt to stop massive sports streaming service https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/20/fubotv-lawsuit-sports-streaming-service-disney-fox-warner-brothers/ Wed, 21 Feb 2024 01:25:31 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7532816 Sports streaming platform FuboTV has filed a lawsuit accusing Walt Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery of anticompetitive behavior in attempt to stop the media giants from launching a massive streaming service this fall.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in New York federal court, follows an announcement on Feb. 6 that the companies were teaming up on a joint sports venture that will provide fans with content across all four major leagues as well as college sports on a single platform.

“For decades, Defendants have leveraged their iron grip on sports content to extract billions of dollars in supra-competitive profits from distributors and consumers,” Fubo TV Inc. claims in their court filing.

“Defendants earned many of these profits by ‘bundling’ their commercially critical sports content with other, less desirable content — forcing sports fans to purchase channels they did not want,” the complaint adds.

Fubo also accuses the companies of additional anticompetitive behavior, such as charging Fubo for content licensing rates at prices up to 50% higher than what they asked other distributors to pay.

The lawsuit is seeking billions in damages for what Fubo says are costs incurred from these actions and later passed onto customers.

The suit also lists Disney-owned ESPN and Hulu as defendants, as the joint venture aims to offer live channels including ESPN, Fox, ABC, TNT and TBS on a direct-to-consumer basis, but also as bundles with Max, Hulu and ESPN+.

When Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery announced their joint platform earlier this month, it resulted in Fubo’s stock falling more than 25%. The latter warned at the time that it believed the venture potentially violated antitrust laws.

“Each of these companies has consistently engaged in anticompetitive practices that aim to monopolize the market, stifle any form of competition, create higher pricing for subscribers and cheat consumers from deserved choice,” said Fubo co-founder and CEO David Gandler in a statement Tuesday. “By joining together to exclusively reserve the rights to distribute a specialized live sports package, we believe these corporations are erecting insurmountable barriers that will effectively block any new competitors from entering the market.”

Gandler also referred to the companies as a “sports cartel” and accused them of “effectively stealing” Fubo’s strategy.

Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Tuesday. ESPN declined to comment.

New ‘Peanuts’ special rewrites Franklin’s origin story to address racist past https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/08/apple-tv-peanuts-special-franklin-racism-controversy/ Fri, 09 Feb 2024 01:39:58 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7513865 After more than 50 years since being introduced, the first Black “Peanuts” character will get his proper due in a new streaming special on Apple TV+.

Premiering Feb. 16, “Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin” will explore the origin story of beloved character Franklin Armstrong, who was first introduced to primetime viewers in 1973’s “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.”

While the cartoon’s inclusion of diversity was welcomed in the aftermath of the tumultuous Civil Rights Movement, the show hit a sour note with viewers by segregating its only Black character from the rest of the Peanuts gang — having him seated by himself on a beach chair on the opposite side of the table, during what would’ve otherwise been a festive dinner scene.

But the recently released trailer for the upcoming special takes the racist undertones of yester-century head on with a plot twist. This time, when the Peanuts crew sits down for a similar group meal, there’s a seat at the table for Franklin.

“Hey, Franklin, we saved you a seat over here,” Linus van Pelt says, motioning to a place next to Charlie Brown.

The official synopsis for “Welcome Home, Franklin” describes the character as a military kid who’s new to town. After receiving a notebook from his grandfather filled with advice on friendship — and a few futile attempts at trying to make new pals — Franklin enters a soap box derby race and eventually bonds with Charlie Brown.

Before making his TV debut, Franklin was originally introduced in Charles Schulz’s widely read “Peanuts” comic strip on July 31, 1968 — less than four months after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

According to lore, a white school teacher in California named Harriet Glickman wrote a letter to Schulz in which she urged the cartoonist to add a Black character to the comic in an effort to bridge racial gaps.

Super Bowl LVIII commercials: A sneak peek at Sunday’s buzziest ads https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/08/super-bowl-commercials-sneak-peek-best-ads/ Fri, 09 Feb 2024 01:18:25 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7513534 Super Bowl Sunday is upon us, and companies have been saving their best for what’s still considered the biggest advertising day of the year. Commercials for Super Bowl LVIII reportedly have an average cost of $7 million per 30 seconds of airtime — up 75% from roughly $4 million a decade ago.

If you watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, you no longer have to wait until the big game to see what many companies have in store. Some advertisers have made it a habit of releasing their spots a few days early in hopes of capitalizing on the buzz as kickoff nears.

So far, some of our star-studded favorites include Jennifer Aniston being unable to remember “Friends” co-star David Schwimmer while ordering Uber Eats, Tom Brady getting blacklisted by BetMGM, and “almost champions” Dan Marino and Scarlett Johansson seeking comfort from M&Ms while looking back on their respective losses. Of course, Budweiser’s iconic Clydesdales also make an appearance.

From the humorous to the heartwarming, here’s a sneak peek at some of the Super Bowl’s buzziest ads.

Uber Eats

When someone tells Jennifer Aniston they didn’t know you could order more than food on Uber Eats, she tells them, “In order to remember something, you gotta forget something else.” This leads to an awkward interaction in which she can’t seem to place her former “Friends” co-star David Schwimmer. Meanwhile, “Posh Spice” Victoria Beckham can’t remember the name of her former girl group, while country star Jelly Roll doesn’t recall getting his many face tattoos.

Doritos Dinamita

The grandmothers of “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega, Dina and Mita, go on the attack after “Top Gun: Maverick” actor Danny Ramirez takes the last bag of Doritos Dinamita from the grocery store. “It’s not ‘dynamite,’ it’s ‘Dinamita,’ ” is sure to be one of the more memorable lines from this year’s ads.

Paramount+

On Paramount Mountain, Sir Patrick Stewart still has his old football uniform, and he’s only got one play on his wristband: “Throw the Child.” In this case, the child happens to be Arnold from Nickelodeon cartoon “Hey Arnold!” with his football-shaped head.

The commercial also includes Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, “Survivor” host Jeff Probst, Master Chief from “Halo” and cartoon Peppa Pig, among other stars and characters — highlighting the streamer’s wide range of viewing options.

Coors Light

The Coors Light “Chill Train” is back, and makes a Kool-Aid Man-like entrance through the wall of a family’s living room. But when they see it’s LL Cool J who’s driving, they can’t be mad. Besides, he’s “got a guy who can fix this.”

Oreo

Oreo’s first Super Bowl ad since 2013 takes an alternate look at decisions that have shaped history, from the famed Trojan horse entering the city of Troy to Kris Jenner signing the first-ever contract for “Keeping up With the Kardashians.” Have people really been “twisting on everything this whole time?”

Google Pixel 8

In one of the more heartfelt commercials of the year, Google follows a blind man named Javier as he uses the “Guided Frame” feature on the Pixel 8 to capture significant moments throughout his life. When you hear the beeping of a heart monitor, just make sure there’s Kleenex nearby.

Bud Light

Everyone’s wildest dreams instantly come true in a Bud Light commercial that appears to pitch the product as some type of magical genie. Did Post Malone really wish for a T-Rex? It seems like the wishes in this one could’ve been better.

Dove

Dove uses a 30-second spot to champion its Body Confident Sport program, which aims to make the world of sports a more empowering place for young girls. As they note in the ad, “45% of girls quit sports by age 14,” but it’s not due to the hard knocks.

Booking.com

Tina Fey has so many possibilities when it comes to planning travel through Booking.com that she’s forced to hire body doubles to help her be every type of Tina Fey she wants to be. Among them, her “30 Rock” co-star Jane Krakowski stays at a swanky hotel as “Splurgy Tina,” while Glenn Close as “Wild Tina” rides her horse around a Texas farm.

BetMGM

Sorry, Tom Brady! In the latest commercial for the BetMGM online sportsbook, the G.O.A.T. has won way too much and is therefore not allowed to keep winning. But good news for everyone else who isn’t Tom Brady — if you love sports betting, you’re in.

Volkswagen of America

Neal Diamond’s 1971 hit “I Am … I Said” is the soundtrack to a Volkswagen of America ad, commemorating the company’s 75 years in the U.S. The full two-minute lookback, titled “An American Love Story,” will be cut down to a 60-second version during the Super Bowl.

BIC Lighters

Willie Nelson has apparently stolen Snoop Dogg’s lighter in a commercial for BIC’s EZ Reach. Snoop’s buddy Martha Stewart is also there, but she’s not getting in the middle of it. Nelson claims he needs the BIC to light floating candles and get his outdoor grill going, but we’re sure we all know what he really wants it for.

E*TRADE

Would it even be a Super Bowl without a commercial starring the E*TRADE babies? These dynamic toddlers made their Super Bowl debut in 2008, but this time — like many others in recent years — they’ve gotten in on the game of pickleball.

Popeyes

Popeyes finally has chicken wings! Isn’t that the first thing you’d want to hear after being unfrozen from a cryogenic slumber? For actor and comedian Ken Jeong, the world’s a whole new place — but the wings are by far the greatest development.

BMW

As Christopher Walken travels around town in his electric BMW, he finds himself surrounded by people attempting to mimic his oft-imitated pattern of speech, including “Emily in Paris” star Ashley Park. Can the 80-year-old just enjoy his lunch in peace!? Turns out, yes — once Usher, this year’s Super Bowl halftime headliner, realizes he’s late for something.

Hellmann’s Mayo

In an ad for Hellmann’s, former “SNL” star Kate McKinnon discovers her cat can talk — or at least can say one word, “may-ow,” which catapults the feline to celebrity status. “Mayo Cat” becomes so famous that she even dates (and dumps) Pete Davidson.

Mountain Dew Baja Blast

Wherever she is, whatever she’s doing, Aubrey Plaza always looks like she’s having a blast… right? That’s the joke in an ad for Mountain Dew Baja Blast that reunites “America’s sweetheart” with her “Parks and Rec” co-star Nick Offerman.

Michelob Ultra

Making his Super Bowl ad debut, soccer phenom Lionel Messi shows off his skills and love of Michelob Ultra. The Inter Miami forward is later joined by “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis and NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino.

M&Ms

Speaking of Dan Marino, the former Dolphins quarterback appears in yet another ad during the Super Bowl — this one for M&Ms alongside actress Scarlett Johansson. The two discuss their love of the comfort candy while poking fun at their “almost champion” status, from her two Academy Award losses (“in the same year!” as the Red M&M notes) to Marino’s failure to bring home a Super Bowl ring.

Buffalo Bills’ Bruce Smith and wide receiver Terrell Owens, who have similarly never won a Super Bowl, also pop up in the spot.

Budweiser

Budweiser taps into our sense of nostalgia, bringing back their famous Clydesdales for another Super Bowl appearance. In a wintery ad, a snowstorm threatens beer dropoff to a small-town bar, but a determined deliveryman, a team of horses and a Labrador retriever help save the day.

ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. to launch sports streaming service in 2024 https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/06/espn-fox-warner-bros-sports-streaming-service/ Wed, 07 Feb 2024 00:05:59 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7510884 Walt Disney’s ESPN, Fox Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. are teaming up to form a sports streaming service that will broadcast NFL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR, college sports and more.

ESPN said in a joint Tuesday press release that the powerhouse trio “reached an understanding on principal terms” to move forward with the massive venture this fall. Each of the company’s involved will reportedly own a third of the new service.

Subscribers will be able to purchase a direct app or bundle the yet-to-be-named offering with a customer’s already existing Disney+, Max or Hulu subscription.

The upcoming service will have “a new brand with an independent management team,” ESPN said.

The NFL first tested the streaming waters in 2021 when Amazon paid roughly $1 billion to carry Thursday Night Football, according to Forbes. In January, Peacock boasted about broadcasting “the first-ever streaming-exclusive NFL Playoff game” when the Kansas City Chiefs, who will soon be playing in Super Bowl LVIII, defeated the Miami Dolphins.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, 64, said in an interview Monday that though “the media landscape” is shifting from cable TV to digital streaming, he doesn’t see the Super Bowl becoming a streaming-only event on his watch. Broadcast television, he said, “remains the broadest possible platform” for a massive matchup like the Feb. 11 game between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’ documentary trailer reveals struggles with money, alcohol, mental health https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/02/where-is-wendy-williams-documentary-trailer-release-date/ Fri, 02 Feb 2024 22:28:50 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7498909 The trailer for a new Lifetime documentary exploring the trials and tribulations that led to Wendy Williams’ departure from the spotlight was released on Friday.

“Where Is Wendy Williams?” — a two-night special airing on Feb. 24 and 25 — features sit-down interviews with the controversial talk show host and centers on her sudden disappearance from the public eye, as well as her determination to return to it amid struggles with money, alcohol and mental health.

Voiceovers from Williams’ loved ones reference the “yes people” that enable her, as well as her ongoing battle with drinking.

Amid footage of Williams struggling to stand and needing breaks on the set of her titular show, a relative notes that “she was put in front of a judge and given a guardian. That was when they took her away from us.”

“Anybody could look at her and tell this is not just alcohol. There’s something more going on,” says another concerned family member.

At one point, son Kevin Hunter Jr. expresses concern that Williams’ guardian has fallen short in looking after his mother. Last summer, the 23-year-old even accused his mother’s team of taking advantage of her financially amid her vulnerable state.

“I have no money,” Williams says in the doc. “I’m gonna tell you something. If it happens to me, it could happen to you.”

After 13 years on the air, Wendy Williams’ syndicated talk show ended in 2022, following multiple hiatuses due to her health — namely issues in connection to Graves’ disease as well as her sobriety.

Williams in late 2021 addressed the “hot topic” of her health as she told fans she was “making progress, but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than expected.” At the time, she said she’d return to her show as soon as she and her doctors agreed she was ready.

‘Suits: LA’ spinoff heading to NBC after Netflix success https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/02/suits-la-spinoff-nbc/ Fri, 02 Feb 2024 19:17:03 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7497880 A new spin on “Suits” is heading to NBC after the legal dramedy’s resurgence in popularity, thanks to Netflix.

Production on “Suits: LA” — which has received a pilot order from the legacy network — is slated to start next month in Vancouver, Variety reports.

Whereas the original Manhattan-set series, which aired on USA from 2011 to 2019 and centered on hotshot white collar attorney Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and his mentee, college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), the new iteration will spotlight former federal prosecutor Ted Black and his powerful L.A. clients.

“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,” according to the logline reported by Variety. “Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”

Confirmation of the pilot landing at NBC comes after reports in October that “Suits” executive producer Aaron Korsh was developing an offshoot of the series for USA’s parent company, following the short-lived 2019 series, “Pearson.”

In addition to newfound success on streaming, “Suits” has been remade around the world in Korean, Japanese and Egyptian iterations.

The original series served as the acting launchpad for Meghan Markle, with the Duchess of Sussex starring as paralegal Rachel Zane, the love interest of Adams’ Mike.

Markle left the show when she joined the royal family in 2018 but remains close friends with Adams, who — along with his wife, “Pretty Little Liars” star Troian Bellisario — attended her nuptials to Prince Harry.
