Alexei Navalny, a staunch critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin and a popular opposition leader, died on Feb. 16, 2024, while serving a 19-year-long prison sentence. Outcries can be heard from around the world, with many fingers pointing to Putin as the person responsible for Navalny's death.
