There was a teenage couple returning home from a sun-drenched beach vacation. A Hollywood stuntman on his way to visit his kids between film shoots. And a 76-year-old Chinese artist who had cheated death numerous times.

Here are snapshots of some of the 239 passengers and crew aboard the doomed Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

They are listed in the order they appeared on the flight’s passenger manifest released by Malaysian authorities.

1. AN WENLAN – Chinese – 65

A nurse-turned-artist, she was known for her realistic portrayals of flowers. She was traveling with a group of 19 other Chinese artists.

2. YUANHUA BAO – Chinese – 63

Was traveling with her husband Liu Rusheng, a renowned artist who had survived three heart attacks.

3. BAI XIAOMO – Canadian – 37

She and her husband, Muktesh Mukherjee, were returning from vacation in Vietnam to their two sons, Mirav, 8, and Miles, 4. They lived in Montreal and Chicago before settling in Beijing. “They did everything for the kids,” a family friend said.

4. MAOQIN BIAN – Chinese – 67

Loved exercising. She spent four days in Malaysia — her first and last time traveling abroad.

5. BIAN LIANGJING – Chinese – 27

Earned his dental degree from a Chinese medical college and was working in construction in Singapore building to raise money for his own clinic. He left behind his wife and infant daughter in China.

6. Datin Biby Nazli Mohd Hassim – Malaysian – 62

The wife of former Celcom chief executive officer Datuk Mohamed Ramli Abbas, she was travelling with her two daughters, Dina, 30 and Maria, 32, as well as her younger sister Noorida. Dina celebrated her first wedding anniversary just a few days before boarding the flight.

7. NIKOLAI BRODSKII – Russian – 43

The scuba diving instructor and father of two was on his way home after a trip to Bali, Indonesia. He was a member of the tight-knit Jewish community in the Siberian city of Irkutsk.

8. RODNEY BURROWS – Australian – 59

The Brisbane couple were on an overseas trip with friends. They had three children and were expecting their first grandchild in April.

9. MARY BURROWS – Australian – 54

The married mother of three had retired from the Queensland Police Service, where she worked as a civilian employee for 16 years. She was on vacation with her husband, Rodney Burrows. The couple were expecting their first grandchild in April.

10. RUI CAO – Chinese – 32

Was working for a foreign company in Beijing. Was traveling with her company in Malaysia and stayed for a few more days with her husband.

11. HUANPEENMR CHAN – Malaysian – 46

12. JUNZHANG CHE – Chinese – 68

Was a professional Tai Chi practitioner and a member of Wu Dang Martial Arts Research Association.

13. JIANSHE CHEN – Chinese – 58

14. CHANGJUN CHEN- Chinese – 35

Was going to have a layover in Beijing and then travel to Shandong Province, in eastern China, to visit his dying father. He worked in Beijing.

15. CHEN WEI HIONG – Malaysian – 43

Was traveling to Beijing with her husband, Tan Sioh Peng, for a vacation. The couple has two sons, Eric, 15, and Allan, 11.

16. YUN CHEN – Chinese – 57

Was coming back from a trip to Nepal with her friends. “She was at the age where she could finally enjoy life without worrying about her children,” her husband said.

17. KARMOOI CHEW – Malaysian – 31

Worked for Malaysia’s largest bank, Maybank.

18. HSIU-LING CHUANG – Chinese Taipei – 45

Believed to be the only Taiwanese national on board. She was traveling to Beijing for a business trip.

19. CH’NG MEI LING – Malaysian – 33

Was on her way back to Pennsylvania, where she had been working as an engineer at a chemical plant.

20. OLEG CHUSTRAK – Ukrainian – 45

21. SHULING DAI – Chinese – 58

The insurance company training manager was on her way to spend a week with her husband, an air traffic controller, in Beijing. She wished her brother “good night” before boarding the flight.

A migrant worker in Singapore.

25. DINA MOHAMED RAMLI – Malaysian – 30

She had celebrated her first wedding anniversary just a few days before the flight. The daughter of a prominent Malaysian businessman, she was traveling with her mother, sister and aunt.

26. YING DING – Chinese – 28

Graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in international business. Had been working in Beijing after graduation.

27. LIJUN DING – Chinese – 43

Was going to visit China for the first time after having worked in Singapore for a year.

29. GUOWEI DONG – Chinese – 48

Chairman of a county-level Artists Association in southeastern China. A professor at Nanjing Normal University, he was in Kuala Lumpur for an art exhibition.

30. YUNSHAN DOU – Chinese – 61

Former director of the Department of Work Safety in the city of Qinghuangdao.

31. WENZHONG DU – Chinese – 50

Worked for a shipping company.

32. DONG FENG – Chinese – 21

Born in a farmer’s family in a small village in southeastern China. Was a migrant worker in Singapore.

33. JIXIN FENG – Chinese – 70

Was a member of the Artists Association in Anhui Province. Was in Kuala Lumpur to attend an art exhibition.

34. BAOFENG FU – Chinese – 28

Worked for a Chinese tech company, IBICN. He was in Kuala Lumpur to attend an art exhibition hosted by both IBICN and a Malaysian art group.

35. TAO GAN – Chinese – 44

Worked for Halliburton.

36. FUXIANG GAN – Chinese – 49

The deputy director of the international liaison office of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.

An employee of Austin-based technology firm Freescale Semiconductor, Guan was married with two young children.

40. WENJIE GUAN – Chinese – 35

Worked for the American company Freescale Semiconductor Inc., based in China. Father of a 4-year-old boy.

41. JING HAN – Chinese – 53

A single mother treating herself to a rare vacation with friends. She didn’t even get international calling or internet service for her phone because she wanted to save money.

43. AIQIN HOU – Chinese – 45

Loved camping, hiking and swimming. Before arriving in Malaysia she had traveled to Indonesia with her friends.

44. BO HOU – Chinese – 35

Marketing director of Chinese tech company ICICN. Had worked at the company for nine years. Born in a remote area in Shandong province, she was the pride of the entire village, its mayor said.

45. SIWAN HU – Chinese – 3

Nicknamed Panpan. Daughter of Xiaoning Hu and Na Zhang.

46. XIAONING HU – Chinese – 34

Father of Siwan Hu and husband of Na Zhang.

A Hollywood stuntman who had doubled for actor Jet Li, he was heading to Beijing to visit his two young children. After the visit, he planned to start filming for the Netflix series “Marco Polo” in Malaysia.

Father of a 1-year-old girl. He was an MBA student at Peking University and worked for a foreign trade company. He could speak five languages. Was in Malaysia on a business trip.

60. CHETANA KOLEKAR – Indian – 55

A microbiologist, she was flying for the first time in her life. Joining her on the flight were her husband Vinod, a retired engineer, and their second son, Swanand, who had recently earned his engineering degree. They were headed to their oldest son’s graduation ceremony in Beijing.

She and her husband were vacationing with good friends, Mary and Rodney Burrows. The parents of three daughters loved to travel. “Off to China,” read Catherine’s last Facebook post before takeoff.

A civil engineering graduate of Tsinghua University. Had recently graduated with a Ph.D. from Churchill College at Oxford University. Got married in the United Kingdom not long before the flight vanished.
